The more I read/hear/watch about 2015 the better it gets. Styling wise, too, it's growing on me.
The thing drawing me to the new car is that as far as I can tell, mechanically, every bit of that car is an improvement over mine. Well, with the exception of 0-60 times, which is an entirely irrelevant figure used by men with small wieners. That's mainly as a result of having an extra gear to row on your way up to 60 miles an hour, anyway.
So, yeah, it's a better machine, but it's lacking the character of the previous generation. I think my car looks better, and with the introduction of equal length headers the signature Subaru rumble (which I adore) is no more.
If I stick with my GV I don't intend on touching the engine. Any improvements that I'd try and make would be going into handling refinements, which is what's been drawing me to the new car. Also, the interior looks a bit less shitty.
What do you guys think?
Should I stick with my buddy and build it up into something that can chase its little brother off the canyons, or do I embrace the future?
P.S.
Do you think this one won't rattle?! BECAUSE FUUUUUUUCK !

Personally I'd just trade for a CPO sti over the new wrx. Especially if you like handling and *ringlands failures...*

Rattles: It's what makes a Subaru, a Subaru.
Depends, how much would it cost you to trade yours in for the new one? If you can stomach the cost, go for it.

It will rattle, just give it 4o00 miles.
I say get the new one, and wait for someone to make some UEL headers, the engine sounds really good with them!

I'm not interested in picking up a car that some bro abused. I couldn't fix it myself if it broke, anyway. I wish I could. I want and intend to learn how to do things myself, but I don't think it's wise to jump in blind right now.

I wouldn't get UELs if it sapped performance, which is why Subaru says they went with ELs.

I'm not super eager to trade up. If the dealer doesn't like the offer I'm making, I'll walk away. I don't even want to hear from them unless they're calling to say that they're agreeing with my terms.

I jumped in blind and stupid. Only a month ago I did my first brake pad change. Now I have an engine out. Subarus are extremely easy for us noobs to diy. You can probably find one truly enthusiast owned somewhere though.

If the headers were anything like the ones on the FRS, then they might just be terrible even if they are EL(they might still be UEL, just not enough for the rumble, just like the FRS).

There was some technical babble about the twin scroll turbocharger needing the headers to be equal lengths.

It has a twin scroll? Then yeah it probably is EL. Honestly EL headers sound awesome too! Makes it sound like a damn race car!
Then again, the rumble is pretty amazing as well.

No.
Personally I think exterior wise, the 2013 WRX's are the best looking subarus ever. Inside i'll admit it's "meh" (especially in contrast to an equally priced GTi). the new ones are pretty, but it looks too civilized. WRX's need to have an edgier, tougher look to them, I feel. Plus, I have a thing for proven technology. That is why I value the totally soul-less, but almost-perfect VW 2L TSI

The EJ in my '13 sings the song of my people!

The new ones look good in a classical Subaru kind of way. Back when the Impreza really looked like a Corolla.

I wish I had an EJ. They sound much nicer, and they have a proven history.

I'unno, I don't feel like hearing something akin to an engine not able to rev freely. UELs make it sound slow and that pisses me off. Not to mention that I don't want to hear the fucking rumble at 6 AM in the morning.

Cant tell from the picture, do you have the hatch now? Would you be okay with the sedan? I really like the the 2015. The styling grows on me a lot.

no
you are losing too much money in depreciation and dealer will low bal saying: well, its the old model.
my$0.02

I don't think I would trade a car for the same car so soon. If you were going from sedan to hatch because you needed space, for example, then sure. But the same style? It may be better, but in two more years they'll refresh it again and it might be even better.

My car is valued at around $24k. It's only lost around $2k.

No, I've got the 4-door. I'm not into how the hatch looks.
![]() 04/04/2014 at 11:06 |

bought it used? no way ur only losing 2k over the first 2 years
![]() 04/04/2014 at 12:06 |

No only because major financial loss

I think the rotational mass has more to do with revability than what sort of headers are on the car. I think they sound a bit more aggressive, but that is all opinions.
And you can't really blame the sound for assholes. I have a straight pipe M3 here at Purdue, it sounds awesome, but I can't imagine people find it that awesome at 3 in the morning. I am still up then, so it is okay with me!
![]() 04/04/2014 at 12:58 |

If it sounded like an EL, I wouldn't really care. A UEL fucking rattles my house. Fuck that shit.

Haha, fair enough. Although, I think mine is pretty tame, you can't even hear it while cruising around! Then again, I was a drummer, and I listen to metal, sooooooo

If it's loud enough, I have the absolute right to write a YPLAA ticket and/or police. :U
I don't want insomnia, good sir.

It is too late for me. I get 3 or 4 hours a sleep a night, and I can't break the cycle!! I don't really like loud exhausts on the street, no matter what the car! On race track though, straight pipe dat ho!

I bought it brand spanking new. WRXs and STIs have fantastic resale value.

the car has only lost $2k in depreciation
![]() 04/04/2014 at 15:31 |

well, better then in a canada anyway,. they lost that 2k pretty much as soon as youve driving it home
![]() 04/04/2014 at 16:44 |

You sure about that? Cause it'd be great!

I'm positive.

Well then, go ahead if you have a spare $2k ;)
